The Montreal Neurological Institute is
a McGill-affiliated and world-renowned centre for brain research
and neurological/neurosurgical treatment. It combines a 117-bed
tertiary care neurological hospital with over 30 separate neuroscience
laboratories, ranging in interest from molecular mechanisms of
neuronal growth to the neuropsychology of human behaviour. This
concentration of neuroscientists and physicians under one roof
has resulted in a culture of close interaction between basic
science and clinical care that has benefited both domains considerably
over the 60 years of the MNI's existence. The MNI is linked to
the Royal Victoria Hospital, a 300-bed general hospital, and
has scientific collaborations throughout the McGill campus and
around the world.
